Facebook told me that if I use a cottonball soaked with dishsoap and hold it on a tick the tick will let go in 20 seconds.

The dog had one last week and whaddya know - works as advertised !

Successful fundraiser

Last weekend, 2nd Smiths Falls held a very successful fundraiser selling Spruce seedlings to offset the cost of their super-fantastic family camp weekend, to be held Fathers Day weekend in Delta !

When:  Saturday April 6th,2013

Where:  Almonte Civitan Club, 500 Almonte St., Almonte.

Cost:  $3.00 per participant

Note: All finish times are approx. depending on number of participants.

Time: Cubs- registration  followed by weigh in will occur at 9:00 am With races beginning around 10:00 am

After tabulating the results the winners will be announced at 12:15

Time : Beavers- registration 12:00 pm-

There will racing followed by Buggy games. Wrap-up around 1:30 pm

Time: Scout Trucks- registration  followed by weigh in will be at 1:00 pm

Racing beginning around 1:30 pm.

After tabulating the results the winners will be announced at 3:00 pm

A Pit stop/ will be set up to help with any repairs.

Kub Kar and Scout Truck specifications as per building instructions in kits

Time: Venturer Rocket Cars – registration at 2:30 pm

Launch time 3:00 pm

There will be a canteen open 11:00am to 2:00pm, with coffee and tea area available for parents during the event.

There has been some interest in Participants showing some of their hobbies.  If you have someone or a Section that would like to display something, please contact me and we can make appropriate arrangements.  There will be a small Scouting display as well.

Come on out and enjoy the day, it’ll be one to

remember.

Algonquin Meeting

ALGONQUIN 2013

PARTICIPANT/PARENT/LEADER MEETING

WHEN: April 10, 2013

WHERE: Merrickville Community Centre

TIME: 1900hrs

The purpose of this meeting is to hand out camp information about:

leaders in charge of the various camps

destinations

itinerary for the week

personal gear required

medical forms

departure & return times & locations

training dates & locations

We will break into groups to discuss the details relating to both the base camp & the tripping camp.

There will be gear available that others have outgrown for the taking.

All fees should be paid in full by April 17, 2013.

This is the perfect opportunity for the final payment to be made.

We will accept postdated cheques.  

Parents are asked to please attend with their youth.
